Don't fall off your chair when you see the prices of these fairly recent vintage patterns.

I've seen Vogue patterns at the thrift shop for $1.50, had I known they were so valuable I would have bought them to re-sell.

This site has patterns going wayyy back. Who knew that they were an investment?!

I have a vintage pattern shop on Etsy.com. Lots of people sell vintage patterns through that site--not at those inflated prices though. Most of the patterns in my shop are 4 or 5 dollars, a few dollars more if it's from the 30s or 40s.

Sometimes when I'm at the thrift shop, I'll pick up an old pattern for 69 cents, then sell it for $4. Not a huge profit, but it's a fun hobby.

I can't imagine someone paying so much for a pattern unless they were making a movie costume and thought it was faster to buy the pattern than make one from scratch. The ones that had "no price" were already sold. She sells quite a few, and even has a layaway plan! I have a rule: Never pay more for the pattern than the cost of the fabric. Since I buy remnants and from the thrift shop, 99 cents is my limit!
