View Full Version : Anyone in Kansas?

Wife and I are thinking about moving from the east coast. After doing some checking have become very interested in Kansas. Are there any folks on here who live in Kansas. I love to hunt. Are there public lands to hunt in Kansas? I would like to live rural but would will need a job I don't mind a 20 mile drive to work but not looking to live outside a big city. Any help?

I do not live in Kansas,
but I stayed in a Holiday Inn in Witicha once. Married a short brown eyed girl from Barber county. What part of Kansas are you looking at.

I live in Lawrence, KS. Don't move here, it's too liberal. I have family that lives in Beloit in Mitchell County. That is a place to live. It is an agricultural community and if you ask permission they will let you hunt (much better than public land) but you said not more than twenty miles from a city. I would reccomend Manhattan as a good city. Not huge but still good sized. What kind of work are you in?

At the present we are undecided as which area of Kansas we like the best. Our next step would be to visit the area that catches our eye the most and fly in one weekend to check things out. I am a former deputy sheriff,small town police chief and jailer for past 16 years. I also have construction equipment skills and commercial drivers license. My wife has a criminal justice degree.

Don;t live there but the folks tell me I was born there in Salina at the smokey fields air force base. they seemed to like it alot from stories they tell.

Was just out in Beloit over Christmas. Population 4,000. I love it. It's got a great small town feel to it. If I had the option I would move there.
