In the summer time here in Arizona heat is an issue and cooling the house is just as big of an issue. To help combat this for the last 5 months or so my wife has done all of her baking on our gas grill. We have used pavers to set on the grill to help modulate the heat then she bakes everything from bread to main courses on the grill. Today she made lasagna.. it was delicious.

Az, thanks for posting that.
I've been "preaching" :) for years to learn how to bake in a gas grill. Can't remember when the light bulb came on for me. One day I realized that with the top down, a grill is simply another style of oven.
Love to bake cornbread in castiron cookware in one, for example. Since most are larger than kitchen ovens it makes cooking easier. Just fill it with whatever that bakes at the same temperature. Especially during holidays when oven space is priceless.
With a side burner, almost everything that can be done in a traditional kitchen can be done on a gas grill. While the coffee is perking, a CI griddle can be heating up for pancakes. At the same time (depending on burner configuration) sausage can be cooking in another CI skillet.
And, IMHO, the beauty of this is that special recipes aren't needed. Once the technique is mastered, the number of recipes is only limited by the size of your DIY cookbook.

Corn bread in cast iron is one my favorites!! This winter I am thinking about building a wood/briquet fired oven. I will be similar to the mexican adobe over, however it will be large enough to handle large baking pans.

I've been doing pizzas on the grill for years. My parents moved to Lake Havasu City. They learn real quick about cooking outside.
Actually did cook Christmas dinner on a gas grill and a Coleman stove one VERY ICY year (for a party of 8). The kids involved still wax nostalgic about it.
Ham, sweet potatoes, biscuits, and all the trimmings!
I've baked on a grill for many years too, and it always amazes me that folks will have a gas grill, and when the power goes off, they don't think to use it! DOH!

Our oven died several years ago and we cooked a whole thanksgiving dinner for a bunch of people including bread, turkey, dressing and desert in our gas grill. Actually a gas grill is great for baking instead of what is intended for - grilling - bbq on a gas grill is just like cooking in an oven.

Did last years Thanksgiving Turkey on our gas grill , was the best turkey ever.
Then finally figured out this year to put the cast iron on the grill and cook my fish outside so I dont hear my wife complain about the smell in the house.
:D I never cook fish indoors.
