Wanted to say Hello to Other Like Minded Friends! I live temp. in a place called "The Woodlands" TX just north of Houston, but I call my home the northern Coast of Florida from Jax to Daytona and all points therein...I have several passions: Living sustainably, anything organic and natural,Medicinal Herbalism and so much more regarding green life, last but certainly not least riding Motorcycles! There is nothing like being able to smell, feel and enjoy nature out in the open wind!! I am so happy to be involved with others who share the same interests in publications learning and how we all want to live and pass on our love & knowledge! Green Blessings, Lisa

Hello, and welcome. You're not too far from me!

Yeah, I can see how wanting to live self sustainably can be in real conflict with The Woodlands. I remember when The Woodlands was practically nothing---Grogan's Mill Rd. and Research Forest Dr. were the main drags, and that monster mall and the cutesy poo shopping 'village' around it was just fields. About the only thing there was a few research labs, a few apartment complexes, a few office buildings. If you wanted to go to lunch, you had to go down to Grogan's Mill and 45 to the CiCis or the Taco Bell, or go on the other side of 45. I can't believe it has grown to the proportions it has since the early 90's. And I still crack up at the name of the place.. THE Woodlands. Not a single place name like Houston, Spring, Conroe, Porter....... no. They were special, they were THE Woodlands.

Hope you get to go home to Florida soon! I get a bit homesick sometimes myself!

Thank you all for making me feel like I belong and you get it! Joann you are the only one I have talked to since moving here that actually knows how it is here...and trust me it is way worse than you remember, before moving here I was forced to visit here for the last 23 years! and You are sooo right!
Thanks to my other new friends for making me laugh and reminding me of the LoveBugs! never thought I would miss those horrible things, but now I do...haha and yes...I am an oil customer right now, but I am sure in the near future we can convert an old Shovel or Knuckle, heck even a Panhead into eating some french fry oil! But I don't think we can with the new Evo's...Please tell me I am not the only one here who understands what I just said...

i remember when the woodlands was nothing, and i mean nothing.

as a young man i worked with my father doing road surveys on the first roads going in there.

if the timing is right, i sometimes run up 45 and cut across at new waverly to ease over east to cross the new bridge below lake livingston dam to get to my BOL. its always kind of a shock when i cross the san jacinto river on up to conroe. i just dont recognize the area anymore.
