Hey there, I just joined the forum, but have been lurking for a long time now. I have a question that I was hoping maybe some of you Texas Homesteaders may be able to answer. Me and my wife are getting ready to relocate to Texas after a string of unfortunate events in Kansas City. We are wanting at least two acres but prefer 10-15 Id love more, but the area we are moving Johnson County area smaller tracts seem to be more available. The question is, we just lost our home in Missouri, and heard that it is possible to get a loan for a homestead in Texas even after a foreclosure. The problem is, I cant seem to find much information online about it and thought maybe someone on here new some information on how that worked. Thank you

Welcome aboard, David! Glad to have you join us. I am not from Texas so I can't help you with your question, but I did want to send out a welcome anyway. You have come to the right place for answers to most any question you may have. I look forward to learning more about your move as it proceeds. Blessings, firegirl

Welcome to Texas. I don't know about any special "homestead" loans. People don't need any extra incentive to move here since this is one of the fastest growing areas in the union. I'm no insider but I figure that Texas is no different than any other place when it comes to banking: Lending is tight, credit is scrutinized etc.

David, when you speak of Johnson County do you mean Johnson county Missouri or Kansas or Texas?
Johnson County Kansas is expensive and crowded, but, Douglas county next to it is much more affordable. I bought 5.7 acrees in Douglas county for $35,000, which is really good for being close to a city. There was no house, though.

I am looking at Johnson County Texas. I currently live in Kansas City, mo and it is just too big for me. Thanks for all the answers. I am still doing some research, and from what I have found so far, it looks like we might be able to get financed even after a forclosure.
