I didn't know where to put this so I put it here. I was so excited I had to share the news with people I know would understand my excitement. I know there are many of you that making butter is old news but it is my first time and even better I made it with our cream that I separated from our goats milk.

I can not believe how good life is! I know it's just butter but it is sooooooo much more at the same time.

Thanks for letting me share.

CONGRATS!!! I know how ya feel. I tried it once, but I cheeted. I could not get any good cream from the milk that we get from a friend. (kind of cow)(& my know how). Anyway I bought cream from the store & used my mixer. I was so thrilled when it turned to butter. I was on top of the world. So I can guess what it means to do it all. I'm am glad for ya. Enjoy the butter.

Yes congratulations!!! And, from your own cream from your own milking, even better.

We have given up the idea of our own cream over the time factor required to care for and milk a milking animal.

My first attempt at forum participation was wanting to know how to can butter for long term storage. Turns out it isn't that hard. The hard part is getting enough butter ahead to have some to can.

Thanks Dame, I hear ya on the butter. I was looking at canning some but to this point haven't ever had enough at one time to can some :) When I saw the ytube clip on canning butter I was amazed. I didn't know you could home can butter before that. The things we learn.....

The amount of milk my DH and DS drink make the time investment into the goats worth it. And I wasn't so sure but it turns out I really enjoy the girls too so it is a win/win situation. As soon as my rennet arrives I will be trying my hand at some cheese.
