Back in '98 I was care taking a farm, while a divorce proceeded. Dug up a patch of grass [ Agropyrens repens]and planted it with turnips and long, white radish. That was four days of hard slog, real swink. The photo is of the first fruits, if you like, which I scrubbed and cut off the greens and the root tips, and took to town, where I sold them to the green grocer and bought *a 10 kilo bag of rice, lots of lentils and three different kinds of sauce: chili, kecap manis, and soy, with the fresh greens growing wild and the odd sweet potato and pumpkin, that kept me fed for four months or more, and I came back there twice after the settlement, and took home about two bushels more of food. It does not have to be fancy; it only needs be sufficient.
So there; do not doubt your ability to plan and act, and God will give you far more than what you put into it.[

My pleasure: I still get a buzz out of remembering how good it felt! Man must work by the sweat of his brow, but God looked at what He had made, and all of it was good.
