We finally got our refi done on our property/manufactured home and had some money left over from taxes. In our woodshed is 8 cords of dry firewood, but we didn't have a woodstove.
In order for the home insurance to cover us, we had to have a mobile home approved stove if we wanted one. So, did some shopping around and finally ordered one. It is costing almost $3000 to for the stove, pad and installation. Yes, we could do it ourselves, but if we messed up and the house leaks we are stuck. However, if the installer messes up and the house leaks he has to take care of the problem.
While the upfront is painful, it will pay off in the long run with lower heat costs and I will feel better having a wood stove for heat and stovetop cooking (I made sure we got a cooktop) in case of power outages or if something worse happens...

Great after you folks learn its personality and little quirks you won't be happy with any other type heat. They are a wonderful way to heat.

I've had a woodstove most of my life, except for the last 8 year or so... I can't wait-hopefully we still have a few cold days after it gets installed-lol...except hubby will get it going so hot I'll have to open doors...
Congrats!!! I'm glad you are having the pros install it. Better safe than sorry if you never done that type of installation before.

CONGRATULATIONS on the smartest move of your life. You have done well, and as a person who has enjoyed wood heat most of their life, think you will never go back. I know to some it sounds like a lot of money, but in the long run it will more than pay for itself. Nothing like a cold wintery night howling outside and 75 degrees inside with a pot of soup bubbling on top of it.

Something about the wavelength of the radiant heat from a woodstove-it feels all so right.I can back up to a woodstove most any time,congradulations-Kevin

Lucky you! I wish I could replace my beastly ugly, inefficient fireplace with a wood stove! (Too many other projects this year.)
Professional install was a good idea. It's worth the extra $$$, as I found out when I had a door and window replaced!

We had a porch which is not attached to the MH, so we put one out there this year, and our electric heat has not come on a dozen times all winter. We love it. We close the porch off with plastic, so it heats the porch and the entire house.
