I have always tried to know this info. My father started me on this and it has done me well through the years. Sometimes have saved quite a bit by buying Whirlpool appl. under other names! Thanks for the update.

Beware, though. Just because it's made at the Whirlpool factory (or any other place and item, for that matter) doesn't mean it uses the exact same parts that are the same quality. I work at a belt factory. We make automotive, industrial, lawn and garden, etc. We'll make two belts for the same application: One with the Carquest name on it, one with Napa on it. They look identical, work on the same equipment, etc. However, different materials are used. And, in most cases, less materials. The more expensive belt will have two plys of protective material on the outside, to prevent premature wear. The less expensive one will only use one ply, and that one ply is a less durable, less expensive material. Still good belts though. But I wouldn't buy them expecting the same performance of the more expensive one.

Ditto! That site is a wealth of repair information. I have recently replaced a Kenmore (Sears) that I kept going for 23 years, mostly with their help. The transmission went out and was unfortunately uneconomical to repair (cost more than a new washer...) Same for a fridg that they diagnosed for me twice and our first dryer that was given to us - didn't work - fix was simple, just followed the troubleshooting instructions. Their parts prices are a little high, so I usually go to the local appliance repair parts here in town, but once full time out at the place, they are my go-to guys.
