My phone rings Thursday and it's one of my buddies. I look at the phone I don't have time to chat I'm at work, he and I will catch up over the weekend.
Here it is Monday I still haven't called him back and my phone rings it's another friend of my buddy and I. I just finished dinner I have some time to kill so I pick up the phone.
" Mike did you hear about".....
It's the call we all dread.
Seem's my friend was crossing the street and was hit by a pickup, he died of complications. Guy was 41 years old never smoked never drank, watched what he ate. Nice healthy good life. He leaves behind a wife and 2 kids.
I should have taken that call.

Mike, I hope you're not beating yourself up. Had he called you and said "Hey Buddy I'm in trouble.. please come!" I just bet you would have gone. It seems there is alot of sorrow all around us right now, but we are told in God's Word to let our hearts not be sad and to find our comfort and rest in Him.
Not long ago, something happened that just floored me, and hurt me. I finally put it to rest and found some goodness I could hang onto and let the thing go. He was your Friend, Mike, and you cared about him. You're so blessed to have had someone like that. In the end, that phone call (had you taken it) would not have kept him here if God was calling him. We think our life circles are broad around, but not all of them are. You will always have with you whatever it was that made this man your Friend. Keep that safe. After something like what you went thru happens, sometimes we're more attentive to our loved ones because we realize how frail our lives are. That's a good thing. I'm so sorry for the loss of your Friend and for his family. I lost my poppa when I was 8 yrs. old, it's hard but it helped me to become strong, too, over the years.
Thank You for trusting us with such personal grief. All I know to do when I hurt is to go to my Father in Heaven and tell Him all about it and Mike.. He hears me and comforts me. This walk of faith is the most beautiful thing I have ever known.. even if I don't understand so much of life, I know God has things under control and loves me... and You :).
Be Strong
~Grizzy~
my prayers will be for the comfort of those who loved your Friend and for peace in their hearts...

Mike, before I opened this forum, I prayed that the Lord would look at these posts and bring to each person what they need of Him.
I pray that He will bring you understanding that helps ease the sense of guilt that you must be feeling.
Mike, I believe that all things happen for a reason. Quite often we never know what that reason is, nor even realize that a reason exists. For example. Can't find car keys and are 10 minutes late leaving home. Possibly, had the car keys been found timely, the car would have been crossing an intersection at the wrong time.
There may be a reason that you'll never know with regards to that phone call. Taking it could have had a negative affect on either you, your friend, or both of you. If you could know that reason, you may be saying "Thank God, I didn't answer that call."
Don't let it weigh you down. Both your buddy and the Lord know what's in your heart. Consider saying a prayer of thanks to both of them for their impact on your life.
Mike, you're right that life is short. We never know when our time will come. My morning routine used to be to stop by my Dad's house to share a cup of coffee with him before going to work. One morning, when I said "I'll see you later", I didn't realize how much later it will be before I get to see him again.
I still miss those mornings, but I've stopped beating myself up about things I could have said or done that morning. Dad wouldn't have wanted it and I'm sure your buddy and friend doesn't want it either.
While these words probably don't mean much right now, I pray that in time, with the Lord's help you'll find peace in the thought that just maybe you weren't supposed to answer the phone.

I'm not quite sure what to say to you all, except thank you. I do appreciate the kindness and wisdom.

I'm so very sorry. I'm sure that you were kind and amiable in the short conversation that you had. And that is enough. You didn't have to discuss every aspect of each others lives to have a warm, caring talk. A short talk with kindness and concern was enough to say Goodbye. I pray for peace for you and for all of his family. May God care for them.

Mike, I'm really sorry. I will keep his wife and kids in my prayers.
I will keep YOU in my prayers, as well. Don't beat yourself up, please. Your friend is giving you a gift. The gift to realize that life IS short and sometimes we need to make a moment even if it's to say, "I only have one moment to share with you but can we catch up later?" In the end, sharing that moment wouldn't have changed what happened, though. Everything is in His time and written in His book. We can't add to take away from that book. His will be done. It's not easy accepting His will but that's what we need to do. HUGS

LIFE IS SHORT
I saw that sentence
That post title, on this blogsite thing here
I had to come say... yes, it is
Life is Short
God Almighty...yes it is
Life is Short
Sweet and Quick
Every Single Morning, I swear
Every Single Morning... when I wake
It is an unexpected miracle to me
To have one more day, to go
And I immediately give God thanks
For one more day
This is all happening before I really even get my pants on
I swear... life is really that precious to me
A day by day miracle
Life is short
And sweet
Did you know...some cultures; some civilizations; some people... they consider the beginning of the day to be...when you go to sleep at night? That's true! That is the beginning of the day, for some people. I like that!! Start the day, with your dreams. I like that.
Beats the hell out of 21st Century Americans, who count their time and start their day, based upon the timeclock... ??
Working for The Man... on his timeclock. The Man will tell you; it aint time if you aint making money@@ the buttbreath evil man will say, and lead you astray.
Life is Too Short...
It's bleeding me down now, just sitting here, typing on this computer
Wishing I was sailing, or hiking, or anything else
Life is Too Short
