When what you love goes on sale.....what's the price and what are you willing to pay?
For example.... Hunts tomato sauce, .39 with a coupon....limit of 4. To me that's a good price. In fact I'm going to go pick up some extra Sunday papers for free in the ER tomorrow just to get the coupons and buy more than that. I'm OK with the store brands, but this is even cheaper.

I'm curious what you buy when the price is right. If I can find albacore tuna for less that a $1.00 a can I'll stock up.

25# bag of bread flour for less that $10.00 I'll stock up.

If I drive by a gas station these days with gas less than $3.10 a gallon I'll fill up even if I don't need to.

Things are sure hurting these days and I'm trying to figure out the best strategies to make my money stretch further.

Give me your ideas and what you like. ???

If I find peanut butter for $1 I'll buy a couple extra to put away since we have some in regular rotation at all times. Jelly for $1 is a good buy around here because fruit is so expensive. I hope to find a blackberry patch to take advantage of this year and make some preserves. Regular tuna for $.50 I'll buy.

When Folgers or Maxwell House coffee goes on sale for $4.99 for the 3.5lb can I stock up. I haven't ran out in years.

Right now I'm buying up flours and corn meal.
The price is getting ready to go WAY up and in many places it already has.
My Daughter is a drug addict and though I lock my house up tight, she still gets in somehow and steals our foods.
SO, I dont/cant afford to keep a lot on hand like i use to.
She was even stealing my eggs, had to lock my chicken coop!
Lord!
I keep telling myself....."she's only 21"...
hope she lives through it to see the clean side.

I can't talk....I didnt clean up till I was 25/30..yes, took me 5 yrs to quit while trying really hard.

Oh well....people are telling me I can keep all these flours in the fridge to keep them fresh as possible.

Any other tips on keeping flours I'm buying now fresh?

Thanks!

Oh...I buy butter when it's on sale.
Until I get my own butter going....still waiting for God to put 400 .00 on the side walk so I can buy my cow.
LOL!
He HAS been leaving money on the sidewalk though!
Found 1.00 then a 5!
Woo hoo!
Only 394 more to go!
Na...In May money will free up and I'll get my cow.

Y'all have a great Sunday.....still resting here....the growing season isnt in full swing YET.

There is a vast market called "Used" or "dated"
that is largely ignored by many. This market
can save thousands of dollars in a lifetime if
one joins the "bottom feeder" ranks.

I'm a bottom feeder to make my pension stretch
but I've always believed that no one has to pay
"full price" for anything and I've been right for
over 50 years. ;D ;D

Another thing to remember , never be afraid to do a little bartering. It never hurts to ask for a lower price. Also keep in your mind things that have been in the same place on the shelves for a time. When you let the store owner know this, sometimes they will give it to you for your asking price just to move it.
