I'm having withdrawal symptoms from homeschooling because my kids are grown. So.... I thought it would be fun to discuss favorite books and other things we have all used over the years. In another thread I mentioned--

And this "You Decide" is absolutely AWESOME. We loved doing it with each kid. You study past Supreme Court cases on rights and review their decisions. Just Awesome. You do have to buy both the student book and the teacher book for this one though.

Abeka 7th Grade Math. My favorite level of their Math books. Before that we just used Rod/Staff texts and after my old Algebra/Geometry college texts.

And of course-- The Prairie Primer and all 9 Little House books plus the cookbook and craft book.

We also read novels, at least two a month each year. The boys loved Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, Call of the Wild, War of the Worlds, etc. I made unit studies around each novel. My daughter like Heidi, Secret Garden, Pollyanna....... In Dec we read the story of the Herdmans each year in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. That and Big Woods were probably our favorite books along with Missionary stories and the Millers. For History, we read the American Girl Series and American Girl Diaries then studied the times in the books.

When it came to computers, our uncle is a professor at the University of Wisconsin in the computer sciences dept, so he would forward lots of learning/programming materials to the kids. A couple of them loved that, but the others didn't. One son joined a jr. ESDA program when he was young, and started studying then. He's a paramedic now and his wife is a nurse. There is always a way for a kid to learn if they are interested in something. I also have to mention the University of MO. The kids did distance classes from there when they were 13/14 and older. That way they studied a topic in highschool, but got college credit for it, so that when they were older they already had college credits.
I could list dozens more books/topics, but I'm probably boring everyone. So....... what are your favorite books, games, and programs in homeschooling?
