How much do you need to live on:

Food
Shelter
Gas
Car
C/C debt
etc.

I consider my needs pretty modest but I could be surprised by what others post.

Situation here is wonky so I can't explain it LOL..I've lived here for 5 years and am still confused on a daily basis lol.

Our food budget can be anywhere from 20 to 100+ a month, it varies alot.

I think it depends on what part of the country you live in and how close to a larger city with more shopping.
Rents in my area run about $700 and up. We don't have many stores so the prices for most groceries are higher than they would be in a larger city. However if you are willing to work at growing your own vegetables we do have about a 100 day frost free growing season.
My monthly expenses are high. I work a good portion of the time so I have to pay other people to do some of the things I would normaly do.

I live on a fixed income of just over $1000 a month. Starting next month the rent and utilities will consume almost half of that even though I'll only be paying about $65 more per month than what I'm paying now. Since I've got ongoing prescription bills, bus fare, and so on there won't really be anything extra.

MYellowRose.....

Have you looked into patient assistance programs for your presriptions? They usually send you a 3month supply for free or for a very low cost. You may fall into the catagory. Each company is different. It will require the participation of your doctor but it is no different than the time it takes to write out your prescriptions. They have simplified the forms. I use to work in a doctors office for years. We did these all the time. It is not goverment assistance. They come straight from the pharmaceutical company.
