View Full Version : complaint paid off
I splurged last shopping Day & bought a bag of tostino's pizza rolls. When I cooked them, about 4 were stuck together by a hair (gross) that was baked into the 4 when they were made.
I called the 800 # on the bag & complained, & they sent me 100 coupons, each for a free family size bag of the pizza rolls.
at $3.89/a bag, I got $389 worth of coupons... they expire in 6mos tho... I have given away about 10, & went to the store & got 5 tonight. guess I'll be eating alot of pizza rolls the next 6 mos !!

Congratulations!!! That is great and I hope it inspires you to never settle for second best, EVER! I took that vow a few years ago and it has always paid off. I don’t chew barbed wire over the problems, I just explain and indicate my dissatisfaction and low and behold I get compensated. Their reaction to your complaint was quite generous, way to go.

I had something similiar happen with coke before... a piece of glass got inside one of the bottles (glass bottles) and I noticed it before I opened it (thank God) and called to let them know they might have some faulty equipment... and what did they do... sent me out 20 coupons for free 6 packs :)

Opened a box of farina last winter, don't remember if it was early last year or late the year before, only to find it full of wevils.
I called the 800 number to let them know since it wasn't outdated and the I didn't have them in anything else. They sent me out a box by FedEx and it arrived on the coldest morning we had that winter when I was wishing for something hot for breakfast. Boy was I happy.

Yes, complaining to the company really does pay off. About 1 1/2 months ago when it finally started really getting cold, I went to Wal-Mart and got my DH some long underwear, Fruit of the Loom. Well, he wore them one day and the seams in the crotch & down the left leg came open. I looked up the website and e-mailed them my complaint, I never asked them to replace them just told them that they may need to look at their equipment so it could be fixed. They e-mailed me back and asked for the color, size and our address which I sent to them. I didn't know it but they have a replacement garantee. A couple of days later Fed-Ex left a package and when we open it up, there were 3 pairs of long underwear. My DH was very happy.
We had also gotten a Perdue Whole Chicken one time and when I took off the package one of the wings was missing, my favorite piece. I e-mailed them and they sent a coupon for $10.00 off one of their roasters.

This past summer I had several batches of jelly not set. Only the ones made with Ball liquid pectin. The ones made with powdered pectin set just fine. I called Balls customer service and they sent me coupons for 6 free powdered pectin, 6 free packages of jar lids and $$off new jars. Went to Walleys and only ended up paying $1.59 for each case of jelly jars (6). Hubby was impressed.

Hope none of your kids chipped a tooth. :(
Doesn't sound like it or you would have done more that a phone call. ;)

Often times, letting a company know that there is something about their product that disappointed you will benefit you because they will often send you coupons...I've gotten coupons for free diapers, cereals, and I got a huge box of candy sent after complaining about a hair I found melted into one piece. Try it-it can't hurt for the cost of a stamp, or a 1800 phone call...
However what is funny is that when you compliment them, all you get is a letter saying "thanks for using our product". I used Cheerios to get my cholesterol down, and sent them a letter telling them how well it worked and that I was telling everyone about it, and they sent me a nice letter-not even a coupon! Made me laugh...
ooo sounds like a lot of good partys will be going on! ;D
have fun!

Duffy, I had the identical problem happen last night with Totinos Mega Pizza Rolls. I seldom buy such luxuries, but splurged when they were half price (regularly $7.00 a bag). Now, it is just too much to be coincidence, for us to each have that problem, so I sent them an email and let them have it! We shall see what comes of this, but it does concern me about their quality control.

I'm real quick to complain. Even if it's a $1 item, if there's something wrong with it then I didn't get my money's worth. Trick is to know who you're complaining to and to have a plan already in mind as to what will make you happy again. When you approach a store manager or write a letter/email to complain, give them the full complaint and specify exactly what you want them to do about it. If you want your money back, tell them that up front. Often these people you're dealing with aren't really skilled at any form of arbitration and they're at a loss when confronted with an unhappy customer. By telling them what you want specifically to resolve your issue, you're giving them an easy solution.
I want to have a t-shirt made that says, "Willing to make a scene" for just those occasions. :)
