Was watching Oprah yesterday since I was bored and the decorater, Nate something or other, was on and was showcasing small homes and some different pieces of furniture that have multiple uses. The one I really liked was what appeared to be a simple home desk in a really wide frame. Nate then pushed down on the desk top and is actually moves, in an upright position down to a lower level, and then a bed comes down! Great to my way of thinking. Would be ideal in the bedroom in my trailer as I wouldn't have to worry about finding somewhere to put the things on the desktop when I wanted to go to bed. Don't remember if he gave the price like on some other stuff but I'd be willing it costs about 2 or 3 grand if not more. I also like the coffee/cocktail table with the ottomans that slide under it and once pulled out the seat on them can be lifted to store things in them. I really like multifunctional furniture.
Anyone else see the show and like any of the furniture?

That desk/bed sounds like a great innovation. I too like multifunctional things, the only problem I have run into with most attempts is that the item becomes one or the other of the multi functions and rarely stays "multi". Not having to rearrange the desktop to get it out of the way and pull the bed down and then reverse the process to take up where you left off on the desk - sounds neat. Any idea about the manufacturer?

I missed that show because I had to go to the grocery store and forgot it was on. Sounds like I missed out on some good tips and furniture. Maybe I'll be able to catch it in reruns.

You might be able to find it on Oprah.com

With my slow dial-up it is nearly impossible to watch videos. Next month I am getting WildBlue for my internet. I can't get DSL here so it is the next best thing.

Thanks for that tip MD44, the Oparh site did have an article on the space-saving episode. here is the direct link to the folding desk/bed:
