I have been a printer full time for almost the last thirty years.
I started when I was 13 and took a year or two off in there.
Anyway I might have some equipment fall into my lap for free and have been thinking of starting a small shop that would serve the Patriot/survivalist/preparedness community.

TSHTF press
well maybe call it something else.

But anyway I am wondering if you think there would be a market for that kind of thing?
I know a person can walk down to his local KINKO's and get just about anything done.
Or most towns have a local printer like where I work right now.

Thinking some folks might like nowing there info is only being looked at by a semi-like minded person.

Anyway give me some feedback here.
I am cross posting on the forums where I hang out.
Thanks
TS

i cannot immediately identify a specific product you might produce but i imagine there will be no lack of suggestions if you do elect to pursue your inspiration -

i always suspect God's hand in the mix whenever i observe a convergence of talent, material, experience, opportunity, need and spirit -

I am sure there would be a cottage industry for some material that people might not want to seen by those who are not like minded, but also remember that you may not agree with or want to be associated with some who may want work done by you.

test the waters , talk to the locals and get a feel for whats needed and or wanted. I would like to see a small paper put out for conservative people. maybe it could be like a small news paper. Sell add space , small wanted section use locals for reporters etc etc: It's not like I don't want to talk with liberals but they usually don't have anything I want to hear.

TS, since you've been in the business, so to speak, for 30 years, there won't be anyone here who knows better than you do as to what the possibilities are for your success. You would be the best judge of that. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

That's a shame, TS!

I have been a maintenance electrician for 24 years, and just 6 months ago, started working for a local screen & digital printing outfit. I've learned a lot in the last six months, to say the least!

Did ya ever consider pad printing? We have had a few requests for this type of printing the last few months, mostly give-aways, trinkets, even foam air filters with a logo. We're not set up to do it, but the boss said if the order was firm, they could buy the equipment for $cheap. Or maybe hand-screening t-shirts. You could do short runs for cheap, and that would be a good selling point, just starting out. Local bands and festivals might contract with you to produce their t-shirts, flyers, etc.

Ask the chamber of commerce in your town, festival committees, etc. Ya never know, and it would be a shame to let that experience go to waste! One job might pay for the hardware, if it was a good one.

Good Luck!
