I took a chance and bought some clearance Mary Washington asparagus today. I remember reading a Jackie Clay blog entry where she said she planted clearance asparagus in the fall. Has anyone ever done this and can you give me any advice on planting it? (Sorry I have been asking a lot of questions on here lately, unfortunatly I am at the point in homesteading where I have more questions than answers to share :o)

Yes, you can plant them in the fall. If they're growing already, you should plant them now. If they're not growing, take them out of the packages they came in and put them in ziplocks (I use gallon size, but I don't think it matters much) Now, add some water, not a lot, just enough to dampen them, and store the bag(s) in the refrigerator. That will make them go dormant. They can stay there until fall. You shouldn't have to add anymore water.
Here are good instructions for planting it~
