Hey!
I hope someone out there can help me... My Auntie in Hawaii is living pretty much off-grid (no electric, no car, no computer) and needs an easy (& cheap) way to charge her cell phone.. I have looked at several dif options, but have no idea what to get her- found some that will solar charge an internal battery, but only about 50% without using other power source ( electric, auto, or computer)- not a very good option, plus most re-chargeable batteries fail pretty quick (and the internal batteries can not be replaced). Another option is a solar charger for replaceable rechargeable batteries, which can then charge a cell phone- but I don't think they are very user friendly for the phone connection cords... Third option is a bit pricey, but is a straight solar (to phone) that is supposed to charge a phone in 2-4 hours... Any info would be Graet!! Thanks in advance..

I don't know all the circumstances, but from what you describe, it sounds like a simple 12V battery and solar charger would be the way to go. Then she could use regular auto accessories for charging whatever small batteries she wanted.
