I've been informed that we have lost a long time member of BHM. Naughty Pines or "Jerry" as a lot of us have known him, passed last month. (July) He's been a member of the forum since Jan. of '04. He was active in the chat room where he acquired many personal internet friends, including myself. He will be sadly missed by many..

There will alas be an empty chair in the chat room now. We all could count on Jerry to come visit with us every evening. And he would stay late into the night when there was someone there to visit with. A nice quiet gentleman, liked by all. We all miss his presence and mourn the loss of our fren. We were all too far away in distance to hold his hand in his last days but I am sure he knew our hearts were with him.

God speed Jerry

Yes Jerry will be missed very much. Very kind soul. He would cry with ya & laugh with ya. Quieter than some of us in chat but some times he would make ya fall out of your chair laughing so hard. He was a very spacial person & really loved his doggies & yours.
Yes we will miss ya Jerry, God speed

I remember Jerry from a number yrs ago.

Yes--a very fine gentleman.

Classy is what comes to mind--a gentleness.

So sorry

sissy you're so right.. When my Woofy was falling down, and my heart was breaking, Jerry quietly grieved with me. His gentle words that shared my sorrow was such a comfort. He understood. It mattered and he cared. I really didn't know Jerry that well, but his kindness then is what rooted our friendship.

Jerry made the best crockpot chicken in the world. He loved Klondike bars. Redheads were the most beautiful women to Jerry. He served in the military. There was a facility near him in California that kept wolves and Jerry used to go there an visit when he could. Jerry had good neighbors who cared about him and helped him by shoveling the snow when it got so deep in winter.

Jerry Engelen walked with us, for a time, on our Journey path. He wrote in our Chat Story that he checked into the Boarding house.. why I think he may be there even now, eating steak for dinner and drinking hot coffee in Cartershan...

I am so saddened by Jerry's passing. There was a sense of humor about him, dry at times that would make me/us laugh. So kind he was to us all in chat. When there was concern expressed he worried with you. I am going to miss him, his kindness and uniqueness in chat and the lil emails he would send.

Rest in peace now my friend.

I talked to someone today who told me that Jerry's 2 older doggies have finally been placed in foster homes. This was a real effort because she said, due to the economy, people are dumping their pets in the California facilities to overflowing.

Jerry's poor lil dogs stayed in his house since he passed away, being cared for by a neighbor prior to being placed in foster care. They've been so lost an confused, but now they are getting good attention and have a hope of finding someone to offer a safe home and love.

Jerry would be so happy to see how much thought and effort is going towards the only family he had.. and loved sooo much.

I was so saddened to hear of his passing, Jerry was such a good man. His dry wit and genuine concern for others, no matter how great or small their 'worries' were, Jerry was there, to encourage and offer suggestions. It was an honor to have known him, if for a short while. Though no longer with us, the good memories of You live on. Thank You, Jerry, for each and every one if them. You certainly are missed.

Didnt 'know' him that well but remember
he was there--good times or bad..........

The Dash
by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end

He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years

For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard.
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left,
That can still be rearranged.

If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy is being read
With your life's actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

RIP Jerry!
