Hi guys,

Long time since I have been here. I have a question for you. Do people really want to work anymore? I
work at the Post Office and have for17 yrs. I supervise
on the weekends when the head honcho is gone. I have been having troble with this one lady(I use that
term loosleyhere) she shows up for work a half hour earyl every week end. This would not be a big deal but
we don't even have our truck there to unload when she shows up most of the time hence nat a dam thing for her to do. THen she starts whining how she has better things to do with her weekend then be at work all
day. SHe was hired to be a sub for a rural carrier and the only day she was hired to work was Sat. ANyway
long story short she got told not to show up until her
scheduled start time which is 7:30. Every frig Sat she shows up early it is like watching a little kid. THis week end took the cake We had heavey mail so I told the
carriers how the new boss wanted delivery done. I just
had to have a meeting with the boss again about miss
pain in my butt. Boss saw she was punching in early again. I had something other then babysitting to do
last Sat. THey were told if mail is heavey you need to take more of your mail to the street to deliver and not
spend so much time in the building. Mail now come in
delivery sequence so they can take it out and deliver
without sorting it. Anyway the complainig started we
can do that it is not safe. THe whole dam district does it and also half the otrher carriers in the building do it.
It went down hill from there. Every weekend she is
bitching she won't make it back for the truck that picks up the mail. SHe is under the mistaken idea that if she gets back late I am coming in when I am no longer scheduled to work to take her dam mail 1 1/2 hrs from here to drop off???? WHere the hell has doing a good job and being responsible for your self went? ANd she is 50 some years old so we are not talking some kid here. If you don't want your job then get the hell out and let someone else have it. THe Post Office is becoinga joke anymore or it is just our Distrct. I got told
yesturedaythat for vacations this year our city carriers
can't take off unless it is their scheduled weekend off.
Meaning they each get every other weekend off. SO you have to pick vacation only when it is your weekend off. I think the Postal service is trying to get rid of the
unions. ALot of the stuff we have been hearing lately
sure sounds that way. We are going broke blah,
blah. THey all still got their bonuses this year so things can't be to tough. ANyway I am beginning to think that
I should start looking for a new job. I now the economy is bad but when I get back from the assignment they have me on I might only get SAt.
A whoe whopping 5 hours a week and then to have to
take the shit the employees are starting to hand out it is not worth it. I think my biggest mistake was that I
have always tried to help them out and make things
as easy for them as possible. I guess I should have been a bitch like our new boss and then they would have liked it better. Oh yes and since I wrote up the two employees that were giving me so much crap
yestureday I called the boss to ask which report to
file she told me that I brought it upon myself becasue
I have always let them do what they wanted and now I suddenly think I can boss them around. I told her I
don't get paid for babysitting they are grown people
and should be responsible for themselves. COme on here they have all been there for over seven years.
THey don't know there job by now? I never wanted to
be the superviser Ijust got told I was going to do it.
THe one funny thing though I can Supervise during the
week and in other offices where evryone acts like a
responsible adult and have no problems??? I guess
I only have a problem with lazy jerks that think they should get paid just for showing up.

Don't go postal on us. You have a problem with one employee? Count yourself lucky. Maybe you are the one problem for that person also. I fail to see what is wrong with someone coming in early. Heck, I used to come in half an hour early every day. I was paranoid about being late. So coming in early, sitting down to read the morning paper, have a cup of coffee, then start work. That woked for me.
I have a brother who has been a mail carrier since 1976. It is a stressful job already and needs no help from "supervisors".

Hey guys,

I never had a problem with her showing up early until
about a year ago. SHe suddenly started showing up before I even got the doors open and the burgelar
alarm shut off. SHe wants her mail first and her parcels
first and all of her hold outs first so she can go. It doesn't work that way. You sort all the flats, then
all the letters, and you do parcels last. We are also
very short handed on the weekends with the
budget cuts they have made and I do the job two
people usually do. SO I can't get her everthing she
wants hence she bitches and compalins all the time she
is there. I know how hard carrying mail is becasue I
used to do that also. I have always tried to help them
out as much as possible. WIth our new boss she wants everything done her way and coming early is definalty out of the question. I told her this weekend
maybe she should get a different suervisor since she
keeps telling me that I don't do a good job anymore.
I have supervised on the weekends and when the
boss is gone for the last five years with no problems
at all. Our new boss used to work with me here before as a clerk just like I am now. Ever since she has been
back I have herad nothingbut complaints about my work. I did file a greivnce against her for taking my job away from me and got put out on asignmet in another
office. SHe told the workers there that I was a troble maker and that is why Igot sent over there. So all the
problems I am now having seem to be quite conveint for her to write me up for not being able to supervise and do my job. DId I mention that she is great buddys
with the whiner? If she gets rid of me she gets a big bonus for cutting hours. I guess if that makes me a little
upset so be it. I would just rather quit then go Postal
she isn't worth it. If a sixty years old she wants to do the work of two people all the time who am I to stand in the way of stupidty. I really hate to lose all that pay but like I said she isn't worth getting ticked off over.
SHe has no problems lying to everyone around her
as long as she gets what she wants. SHe is going to
have a talk with her friend and get it all starighted out
so I will be getting a call this week listing off all the
things I did wrong and her friend wil still come in early.
I used to love my job but it is really beginning to take to
much of a toll. Stress beyond belief and Migrains up the
butt. All to keep a job that soon will only be for 5 hours on the weekend. I think I need to go get the want ads and start looking.

I have two friends that work for the post office , both carriers , when they told me they all have to carry around one of those little boxes that you punch in every time you leave the truck , go some where , get back to the truck and then punch in to go and come back from the toilet -- it's no wonder they go postal

Having my own experience and knowing how autocratic government agencies are run I can see why there is lots of resentment from employees.
