I have worked with troubled teens / juveniles at various agencies for a number of years.

I just started working for another agency that works primarily with teenage girls. The place is decent, but the staff turnover rate is enormous.

My so-called "boss" has 8 months experience in this field. She's pretty legit on some issues, but on other things she is completely full of crap.....and she knows that I know that she's full of crap.

BTW, she is not "BOSS" material.........She just has the most seniority and the position fell into her lap.

Here's my problem:

We had a personal conversation about how to deal with a certain situation and she wrote a report on it and sent it to the main boss. I got a butt-chewing from hell. The report stated that I was arguing with her. I apologized to her and she acted like she didnt know what I was talking about and avoided the conversation.

I have a strange suspicion that my "boss" is completely intimidated by me. She tries to play it tough and act all macho, but I can see right through her most of the time. I have a strong presence and it is very evident that I am waaaaay more experienced than she is, but I have no desire to supervise any-damn-thing! (I just wanna be a regular dude for once!)

It seems that she is taking every little opportunity to sell me out to the main bosses........

Any thoughts?

What can I do to help lessen this chick's degree of paranoia?

#1 marry her
#2 if your single take her out to a nice dinner and tell her you don't want her job but she looks real hot in that dress.
#3 Log every thing you do around her and what she says for cya.

Dear Zachweiss,

How you deal with this is entirely up to you, but one possibility is that you could defer to her authority, then, when the work load is heaviest, take as much personal time off as you can get away with, and see how long she lasts holding up your share of the Lord of the Flies kiddies. Then she'll see who's the real qualified one and hopefully get off your back.

Of course, no matter what you do, I would always have a sideline prepared and ready to go. Then you could just let the undead bury the half-dead and not contend with the nonsense anymore.

;D
