Looking for books similar to Farmer Boy written by Laura Ingalls Wilder, I know about the Little House series, just prefer something closer in similarities. Any help would be appreciated :)

You might enjoy -
"Letters of a Woman Homesteader" Elinore Pruitt Stewart (Author)

I found this as a 'free' Kindle ebook on Amazon, one of many they offer.

It may also be had as a 350pp paperback.

The author starts the book as a poor widowed mother and ends the book as a land owner fully self sufficient for herself and children. Very empowering for women I would think. It is a series of letters sent by Elinore to her former employers in Denver - who then sent them one for publication in East Coast magazine. Warning - not real PC owing to the age in which it was written.

It offers a glimpse into a world without electricity, running water or easy access to doctors. Set in rural WY at the turn of the last century (1909 to 1912 or so) I found it both delightful and touching.
