Job Security

In economic dips how secure will jobs in production trades such as carpentry be. I know that demand will drop off somewhat but will you still be able to make a living?

When home building slowed down my dad always had smaller repair jobs lined up. Poeple who couldn't build new or make major repairs were more willing to hire smaller repairs.

Can't buy a new home........but, can build the room addition.
Can't build a room addition....but will get the roof leak fixed.
