If I had known, when I was 20, what I know now, I would have done this earlier. I went up my first time when I was 35 married with 2 kids, so I couldn't stay more than a few months at a time. If your young and single or have the kind of mate who will go with you and deal with the living conditions, you can do real well. The last logging camp I worked at offered to put my family up in a trailer at the camp, if I would stay on. I'm like ya, right, like my City slicker wife is going to want to go out in the wild and live, when I can't get her to go up to Anchorage!
Most of these will provide room and board for around 11 or 12$ per day. Some will provide it free. The main thing is to find a company that works 6 or 7 days a week and atleast 11 hrs a day. When you are there, they may have a little, very, very small store to buy "some" things, but it is better if you take it with you or have it mailed to you, for what ever you need.
There are places in the lower 48 that may be simmilar, but you will spend way more money down here than you will up there, ie...no stores to shop in and everything coming in by plane or boat or a very long drive.

Any who, this first one you can select an area and search for jobs, then hit you back button and check out another area. You will have to read the description and look for jobs that require overtime. The logging camps I worked at required 12 hr days min. and 7 days a week. You could take a vacation every 2 or 3 months, but this is different with diff. companies. Some will require it, others won't.

This next one is Veco, which is in Prudhoe Bay:

I don't know if all of these companies are in business yet, but they might be:

Keep inmind, you may have to keep checking back for the job your *looking for. Another place to look is the http://www.seattletimes.com under jobs and type in keyword Alaska.

This one is in Iraq or Afganistan areas. I concidered this, because I was there and new what to expect, but it was hard being away from my kids for 17 months the last time. They do send you back home for R&R once every 2 or 3 months.
