I recall when I was 16 and had a job, I had to prepare a tax return. Of course, I turned in a 1040EZ, as I didn't make a large amount of money. That was some time ago, so I don't know how much things have changed.

Since my daughter was working as an independent contractor for the Soccer league, we were able to call it a hobby and did her taxes that way, instead of as a business.
