If anyone has been following my posts, you all know that in May I got the Axe. I've landed a contract job to tide me over until I can find something better. Well better has come along. In KC one of the railroad companies had an opening for ET's (Electronics technicians).
I applied for the position and was requested to come in for preliminary testing and such. It started with a two hour written test a sample of hair was taken from all the applicants followed by an interview.
There were nine of us at the start, the test was graded on the spot and if you didn't pass well you can figure out what would happen, two didn't. I did pass, I don't have any issues with the hair sample because I don't do pharmaceuticals so no problem there. The interview which was slated for 20 minutes lasted me about a half hour to forty five minutes and with my experience I was questioned more in depth.
As I was leaving the testing station one of the tech's there escorted me out and said "It looks good but the boss has the final word, we'll be getting in touch with you in a couple of weeks for a "stress test".
He mentioned that even though the technicians don't work in the rail-yards they still get tested as if they did and he advised me to "go ba**s to the wall" when I took the test. Today I received a questionnaire about my general health, breathing, circulations, hearing and vision.
If anyone works for the railroad, can you give me an idea as to what a "stress test" might be as I really want to get this job and figure if I can prepare some for it by exercising it might help? Send me an IM if anyone has any ideas.
