Altered items

Does anyone here make altered items. For example, take a jelly roll pan and turn it into a magnetic message board? I did some when I was into scrapbooking big time but haven't done any lately. I'm looking for ideas for things to make in the next year and use for gifts. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There are tons of free instructions on how-to with just about anything that you want to work with to turn it into something else. From rags to rugs and cardboard cartons to furniture.
