While looking thru a bunch of my late BIL's stuff, came across a manual for the Ruger Blackhawk/Super Blackhawk. cir 1980

They reference a "convertible" model in both /357/.38 with extra cylinder for 9mm.
Also referenced is a "convertible" .45 lc and extra cly for the .45 acp.
There was a warning in the manual about making sure that the numbers matched for the gun and both cylinders.
Also listed in available calibers is the .30 cal carbine.

Though this was kinda of intresting and was wondering if any one has one of these?

The parts list offered replacement cylinders, for ...are you ready for this........ $25.25 plus $10 bucks for labor.

I know they sold a lot of Single Six's w/ .22 and .22 mag cylinders as I have one.

The price of cylinders is up to about $60 now.

I have several stainless .45 Colt NMBHs, with .45 ACP cylinders that have now been modified to allow the use of .45 AR as well. Mine are very accurate, but it took a little work to get there. As has been pretty typical, the .45 Colt chamber throats were quite tight and required reaming. I also had to recut the forcing cone and smooth the trigger. Not a big deal. Well worth the effort.

Where the .45s can be very accurate, the 9mm cylinder in the .357 can be less so. .355" bullets through .358" throats in a .357" barrel tends to produce less than steller accuracy. I had a 9mm cylinder fitted to one of my .357 NMBHs. When I tested it with CCI Blazer, I was very favorably impressed with the accuracy. It was almost as accurate as with the .357. Cool!

The convertible version of both are blued. If you like stainless as I do, you can get a stainless gun and send it to the factory where they will put in the second cylinder for you.

Years ago, I had a 7 & 1/2" 45 convertible, but it got away during my "bad times".
My lot in life having improved, I now have another, but 5 & 1/2, thats the longest barrel they put on 45 convertibles now.
I keep the 45 Colt cylinder stoked with Cor Bon +P's. It's my "the dogs are barkin, time to check things out" pistol.

I have the .30 Carbine Blackhawk. Its an older 3 screw.
With cast hollowpoints it is a superb varmit gun. Its also very flat shooting package.

I see the .45 convertables for sale now and then, but rarly see the 9MM ones.

I have the 45 colt and 45acp , to my surprize at fifty yards they shoot about the same. The 45 acp has a little more crack to it

I have the 38/357/9mm , its a nice gun , the 9mm's aren't as accurate as the 38's . The only problems I have had are some 9mm's will not seat all the way in the chamber , they stick out @ 1/64" just enough to make the cylinder not spin . This happens with factory loads as well as reloads , if I resize the loaded round they will usually chamber .

It's a really nice handgun. I wanted to get one for my wife, but my source sold out. If you handload you should be able to compensate for the differences of the 9mm. Just the .38/.357 ability is worth the price.

I wandered into the local small town pawnshop one day (I gotta stop doing that) and he had an Old Model Blackhawk 357 Flat Top, $250. :o Only some minor rust on the ejector rod housing.
It now wears Ajax grips and resides comfortably nestled in my sock drawer, only coming out now and again to be lovingly fondled, or if the weather is perfect, taken to the range. ;D

I have both .357/9mm and Colt and ACP convertables. I also have a .38=40 with a 10mm cylinder this was a limited edition distributed by just one Ruger dist around 1990.

I also have a first year of production 4 digit serial .30 carbine and have had 32-20 and.327 mag cylinders made and fitted. Brownells offers the cyl blanks for under $200.

I've been thinking of getting .38 S&W cyl for the .357/9 and .32 ACP cyl made for the carbine.

All the models you discuee are still available from Ruger.

Ahh! 32-20. Excellent homestead cartridge, I have a 1920 Colt Police Positive Special in that caliber, would love to have a Single Action Army also.
My small town gun shop owner bought a bunch of Remington 32-20 cheap and sells me 50 round boxes for $15 each!:D
I buy a box whenever I've got the cash and put it away, got 10 boxes so far.
