We have a shallow well that is unfortunatley at the bottom of our property. It sits approximatley 80' below and 450' away from the house. I have been have issues with the pump and want to replace it. Any thoughts on a type that would work well? Right now it is a submersible pump. I am unsure of the hp.

Thanks

We'll need more info on this.
What size pump
What size circuit breaker is the pump on
What size wire from the power panel to the pump
Is the pump 110v or 220v
Is it two wire or a three wire pump with a controller

An under sized wire on a 500+ ft run will cause problems and even burn out a pump motor.

Not sure exactly what sort of info you're looking for, tinman. You'll need a pump that will do the 80' lift to the house as well as whatever the depth to the water is. You said "shallow" well, so I'm guessing about 50'? So a 130' lift to the house?

I'd suggest something on the order of a 3/4 or 1 HP pump. A little oversize is better than a little undersize. For a standard 240V pump, check with Home Depot, they have decent quality and reasonable prices.
