Now that a few of you may have gotten one and fired it a few times , what do you really think about it. I have only held one once and didn't like the balance or the grip

Personally I agree with you. I don't like the balance. I prefer the Freedom Arms over about anything SW can put out. Freedom Arms revolvers kick less than a Smith, Ruger, or Taurus because of the grip design. They are extremely well made and I like the 500 Wyoming Express as a cartridge better.

I have 3 of the .500 Smiths: a 6 1/2" 500 PC Hunter, a regular 4" and a 5" John Ross Special. The PC Hunter weighs 70 oz without a scope, 84 oz. with my Weaver 2x scope in Warne QD mounts. Really helps to dampen recoil. The 4" and 5" John Ross Special weigh 57 oz. I prefer the JRS. It doesn't have a comp. The gun rotates more in the hand, but rearward thrust is reduced. The 4" has a comp and reduces rotation in the hand, but increases rearward thrust. Your choice.

I like them, but for range work, I tend to load them down. Even loaded down, they are more effective than things like the .44 mag.

Clem I have a 480 ruger, 44 mag, and a couple of 45's all will drop a muley at 50 yards like a rock. I mean God man dead is dead, What do you hunt that takes a 500

It isn't a matter of need. It is merely a matter of want.

That's cool , so with that I want a gattlin gun We have a couple of full auto shoots around the area where one can participate to blow a few Tv's ,cars ,and other large objects to smitharines I've always wanted to do that. Don't need to but have always wanted to. Does anyone know if a gatlin gun is considered a full auto. By deffinition it isn't an automatic.

The last time I fired something full auto, it was a 20mm gun pod mounted on the centerline of an F-4. 4000 rounds per minute. Cool!
