Aside from a dark, long-sleeved shirt untucked, what is a good way to carry a Ruger SP101 .357 (concealed hammer)? Not exactly a pocket gun.....thx ???

A purse or maybe a fanny pack.

Try either a Milt Sparks Summer Special II or a Sam Andrews McDaniel II

The SP101 has been my off duty carry gun for 10+ yrs. I have a shoulder holster to use with a large shirt, pancake strong side holster, inside the pants, and a fanny pack. I also have an old surplus .45 shoulder holster that I converted to the SP for when out in the woods as a knock about. Practice and comfort are all that you need. Gonna have my old boss stitch up a cross draw for travel. Better to grab from the vehicle.
Overall, I prefer the strong side carry. But what is right for me is not what may be right for you. Practice, Practice Practice.

Most any inside the waist band holster will give you the desired results. IWB on the strong side and a t-shirt are about all you need. Most IWB holsters only allow a few inches of grip to show but try each one to get the right fit.

Agreed. You might try an Uncle Mikes' #10 IWB holster, it'll be a bit oversize, but will allow the gun to ride deeper inside the waistband, and just the butt will peek out over the beltline. I use mine for a S&W Airweight Model 638 with good results, Cabela's hiking shorts and short T-Shirt. Can't see a thing. ;D

If you want a Summer Special IWB holster check with Brownell's.

cheaper than dirt.com has the Survivor IWB for the SP101 for about $15+s/h. It looks like it will drop the butt down close to the belt and if you carry strong side at around 1630-1700 or even 1730 you should have no problems CCW under a slightly over-sized shirt. I have found that on CC revolvers I prefer a smooth wood stock, it allows the shirt material to just slide over and print less by not bunching.

My small revolvers ride in my pocket. The SP101 even with its weight is a great pocket companion with a proper pocket holster.
The DeSantis Nemesis is my preferred model for superior stability with both my small revolvers and small autos. It fits into most any budget as well. :)

I have a 1911 full size I summer carry under a T shirt untucked. I use a leather pancake holster with a slight forward lean. Works great for me I am 5'8" and 180lbs.

:) Not exactly a problem either! How long is the barrel?
We have a Ruger SP-101 with a 3" barrel; it's one of my favorite backup guns. Use either a DeSantis, 'Gunny Sack' or any good IWB holster.
Sometimes I carry inside a Kramer pocket holster; but, this is only with large dungaree pockets. Other than this, the only way to carry at the waist is IWB. *;)
