hi all, brand new to this site. just purchased my second kimber the other day, and would like some help finding out more about it. it's a kimber 45 classic gold match, blued with checkered wood grips. all kimber co. could tell me was it was an early model. not much help to me. does this weapon have the drop safety incorporated and not fire if it is dropped while cocked and locked?? also looking for approx retail of gun. are there any sites i can go to for more info on older kimbers? any response will be greatly appreciated. thx

Try this link:

Value is probably $5.00 but I'll give you $10.00.
Just kidding of course. Someone with more knowledge should be able to tell you a fair price however I'm not sure I've ever seen a Kimber for much less than $1000.00.

Wonderful guns by the way but I'm sure you know that.

Does it have the ambi saftey? If it truely is early it won't. It won't have the safety you are seemingly wishing for either. That is called the Swartz (sp) safety and came out with series II.
Does this gun have a internal or extrenal extractor?
What you you say the wear and general condtion are like?
Un-sold and new in the box is 100%, Sold on the counter it is 99%. After that anything goes...
The site DK listed shows this piece on the 2nd page vertically.. 931K
Oddly there is no listings for a good many Kimber .45's as I don't see my CDP Pro II listed. No Eclipse an others..

THANKS FOR THE COME BACK GUYS. IT DOES HAVE AMBI SAFTEY/INTERNAL EXTRACTOR. CONDITION IS A SOLID 99%. VERY TIGHT, DOUBT IF IT HAS SEEN MANY ROUNDS. WHILE I'M NOT FLATTERED WITH THE OFFER OF 10.00, I'LL DEFENITLEY REMEMBER IT. (HA-HA) SHOT IT TODAY FOR 1ST TIME, GREAT LOADS/CHEAP LOADS WITH NO MALFUNTION. MY OTHER KIMBER IS A CUSTOM II. LUV MY KIMBERS.

I have a Kimber without the Shwartz-style safety (thank goodness!) Looked and looked and found one that was one weekend old, about 50 rounds through it, for $500 and change. That was six years ago, though.
It is the 4" bbl stainless compact, which took a while to find, but it's what I wanted. For a target gun I'd much prefer blue, but I don't want to worry about the finish on something stuck against my hop hours a day. It shoots like a dream.
And I have to confess, I dropped it and it didnt go off. I was doing some remodeling in my new unoccupied house, had my pistol along for the ride, and set it on a shelf in easy reach. An hour later, I pull down one of the brackets to get at the wall behind and the whole piece-of-crap shelf came down, Kimber with it. Hit the linoleum hard enough to take a divit out of it, exposing the concrete, and right - I mean RIGHT- on the muzzle. Just a scratch on the gun, but man if it were going to go off, I'd imagine that exact scenario as beign what did it.
No, the drop-safe thing is at least about 95% CA legal ninnies sleeping with anti gunners, procreating more worthless tripe about how guns are bad for them, and therefor me.
Enjoy your gun. So many of these things shoot like a dream. Maybe the older ones even more so.
