does any one know of a gun that is cheaper then a .22 cal. S&W 22A? but is a good shooting gun. the gun shop gave me a price of $275-325 used.a ruger mark 111 at $300-430. browning at $340. he said that the prices changed so often that they had to call suppliers for prices.i would like a good shooting auto w/ a long hunting barrel that can have a scope put on it.but i can get one that costs a lot of bucks. :)
thanks

Hey Drat I have owned both a S&W 22A and a Ruger Mark II and in my opinion the Mark II is a better gun as far as accuracy and the unlimited options you can get for it I haven;t felt the need for a Mark III yet! I even traded off the Smith after about 6 months I just always kept grabben the Ruger just my two cents worth! ;D Best of Luck Choosen!!!!!

Maybe go to a range and get a little hands on with anything you're considering. I bought a Ruger MarkII(without doing my homework) and absolutely hated it. It looked way cool but that was all. I sold it and got a WaltherP22 and love it. As far as expense you'd be good to look in the paper to buy cheapest. Seems like gun stores, gun shows put a pretty hefty mark up on pieces that are in good shape. I've gotten good deals by buying through the want ads. (Seems alot of folks just want to get rid of a gun).

I had a NEF or H&R (same thing) 9 shot used .22 (tip up barrel) that I bought from the newspaper for $100 several years back. Deals can be had. Nothing wrong with buying used either.

I think the Mark II is history, replaced by the Mark III?

P22 is a sweet unit, saw one for $279 at the gunshow this weekend

Got a Browning Buck Mark for $150. Love the lil gun.

Shop in the thrifty nickle and papers like said previously. until it gets outlawed (likely soon) it is by far the best way to go.
