I bought a new knife, one from a guy I know who has started making them. The handle material could meet the metal a lot better but I'm thrilled with it simply because it's handmade and back in the day I'm sure fit and finish weren't as common as utility. Most mountain men didn't have perfect new knives, although I'm sure there are people who did.
Overall length: 8" blade is 4"

Pins are holes that go all the way through. Handle is something dark brown/black with some white streaks.

All of my knives are "user" knives, and mostly for hunting use, so i like the drop point design of your knife. Now you will have to find out the MOST inportant part... And that is, how well it keeps an edge, and how easy it is to resharpen it...

Are you going to use it for hunting?

Yes, DM, I plan on using it for hunting. The only thing I don't like right now is that I have to keep it oiled or it will rust. I'd like to find a way to prevent rust without having to keep it oiled. The towel I had it wrapped in absorbed all the oil, so I'm not sure I can keep it from rusting. Got any suggestions?

Jared - this might sound like a smart-alek reply but, it's the truth.
The best way to keep a tool from rusting is to use it. Often.
That's a nice knife that your friend made. :)
