Now that deer season has passed, I'm thinking of trying to find a used left handed compound bow for a decent price to ready myself for next year. Any suggestions as to which units I should seek out or avoid?

Sorry Jim, I'm not real sure the make a specific lefty. My Horton Dakota has a cheek piece on the butt stock but other than that there is nothing that would stop me from shooting it lefty. I'd suggest you get online and start looking for a straight type stock.

jim, I have checked with everyone I know about a left handed bow, most have said just get a good brand that you are comfortable with.. Not much help. I even asked my ex who is a leftie and used to be bow hunter. He said that he didn't know anymore but always liked Bear. So now you know we gotta be friends since I asked my ex LOL

Check out this bow on e-bay

Most major manufactures make a lefty. I'd suggest you look at some of these on ebay before you do anything else.

Jim, I know this is an old thread, but just an experience from another southpaw that might help. I paid big bucks for a new lefty compound once, and loved it. Then later shot a friends right hand one and liked it better than mine. If you haven't already found one, try and find someone who will let you try a right hand one, good possibility you can shoot it too, maybe better.

I'd find a good local dealer with a good bow mechanic and buy what they sell. My son shoots a Darton (I'm traditional) that he got from our local dealer. The dealer also sells Bowtech. While he was there picking up arrows earlier this week the guy told him about one of his customer who bought a Bowtech and went to another shop because it was close. The "close" shop cracked both of his limbs as a result of putting it in the vice wrong. The "close" shop is also not a Bowtech dealer all he could or would say is sorry about that. Our dealer got with the Bowtech factory rep and got the guy a new set of limbs at no charge since the bow was still under warranty. The guy with he Bowtech would never think of going someplace else now, nor would we.
Most archery shops are small and have a loyal following.
