mesquite beans

I have a mesquite thicket; call it maybe 2 acres. It was my intention to weed the small ones out and keep about an acre of more mature trees as a potential food source. The guys as desertharvest.com say you can probably get a decent amount of food. But down here in Central Texas we had a extremely wet summer. I haven't seen a single pod, and I think the season has come and gone. Now normally given the aggresive growth and spread of mesquite down here this would be a good thing. But I was hoping to try making some flour this year.

Any horticultural insights into my mesquite predicament?
