Stinging Nettle

I used to be able to find Stinging Nettle/Jewel Weed a LOT around here (Central Indiana)... the past few years I haven't spotted ANY. Anyone else notice this where they live?

Seems like all the roadside mowing and spraying stops a lot of things from making that formerly huge reservoir of seeds for the birds to harvest and then scatter over all the waste places.
I notice that in some years, one "weed" will kinda dominate, others something else seems to be everywhere. Last year around me it was a Ragweed year. :P

Where were you seeing them? Both prefer VERY fertile well drained moist soil (they're considered fertile soil indicators). Around here...north central PA ...they're found mainly in barnyards and around some old abandoned homesteads, etc...rarely elsewhere.
