Been paying 10 something a box for CCI's at Walmart, but i found this site where you can get a "Fiocchi" for the bargain price of 7.59

https://www.grafs.com/product/186193

They only charge 4.50 for insurance and handling and shipping is free. I ordered 10 boxes.

Wow..........

Good score Penny.

Do be careful. Sometimes 22mag guns are ammo sensitive, like 22lr guns can be. If your gun is ammo sensitive to this stuff, know where you can sell or trade the rest of it for something else.

Have fun

Thanks for the advice, Wyo. Yeah, if it doesn't work in mine, it might work in someone else's. Hoping it does work in mine though, i read on a gun forum that it works just fine.

Got the Fiocchi .22 WMB JHP shells today, 8 days after ordering. They're packed in little cardboard boxes and on the inside of the outside covering there is a 25 yard bullseye target. That's useful. Hope to shoot some soon, and will give a further review.

P-P I still can't make up my mind of going to a 22mag or the 17cal , the stats don't show a whole lot of difference. (except for price)

Flatwater,

I was faced with the same dilemia (sp) *The .17 ammo costs more than the .22 mag and although it shoots flatter, the knockdown power peters out when it gets out there so far. *I like the .22 mag, tried the shells and they're doing fine, so that makes shooting it more affordable. *I made a set of shooting sticks and that has made all the difference. *I'm knocking those squirrels at 75 yards, (because that's about my limit for being able to find them, LOL). * It does better than a shotgun for squirrels because of the longer range.

I've been able to buy Winchester 22mag Dynapoints for about $8 a box at my local W-M. They have a 45 grain bullet and have always produced accurate results in my 22mag bolt action rifle and revolver.

This post reminds me of all of the great debates on the 22 WMR versus the 17 HMR. I've attached a link that provides some great reading on the subject. I don't have a 17 HMR but it doesn't look like one could go wrong with either one.

I'll look for the Dynapoints, but the last time i checked this Walmart didn't have anything but CCI's. These Fiocchi's are doing fine job on squirrels. The first time i hit one i was surprised of how little was left of the head. I'm getting able to hit them in the head pretty consistent 50-75 yards out. That's becase i made a pair of shooting sticks that has steadied my aim. You take a large diameter broomstick about 3.5 foot in length and split it down the middle on a tablesaw. Then rejoin the two halves by drilling a hole about 3/4 up and inserting a wingnut. You can use the stick to walk with then when you sit down under a tree with your gun you scissor it out whatever height you need. You'll be ready and steady, LOL.

Yeah, i know the .22 LR would be more economical on those squirrels but the mag is so awesome! :)

That's a good idea for making the shooting stick. *I'm planning on making one this year and I think I have a round stick that will do the trick.

:)
