Peace,
Glad to know i possess a handful of these most manly fire arms, and i agree the thompson should be on that list, try emptying that mag of its 30 -50 rounds and tell me you dont feel as if you went 3 rounds with the heavy weight contender.
Peace

I would love to own a Browning Automatic Rifle ( BAR ). Be great for self defense if attacked by a herd of violent rabbits.

I didn't read the links, but I bought a North American Arms min conversion last Sept.
This is any .22 and Mags in 2 cylinders... The barrel is 1 and 1/8 inches long.
I can't tell you how bad the muzzel blast is in words, but it is border line rediculous. The fire ball with a mag is about 16" diameter, and the boom is most deafening.....
The idea with these is you let yer guard down and this is the last ditch. You stick it in his nose and say inhale this Mista'
Even if you miss at that range it won't do much to make a thug pretty.

I think they left one out of the list.

Heres my list. Everything is numbered 1.
1. John Wayne's .45 colt revolver
1. Peacemaker .45LC
1. kentucky rifle (muzzle loader)
1. M1 garand
1. 1911 A1.
1. S+W 500
1. mauser
1. M14
1. Mac 10 (.45ACP, one handed, full auto, no stock)
1. 12ga shotgun. pump action.
These were chosen based on manliness of the people who used these, or the strength needed to fire one on a regular basis. combat effectiveness, accuracy, range, power, and fire rate were seen as inhibitors to manliness. For example: It requires more manliness to engage an enemy in combat armed with the peacemaker than it does to mow him down from 500 yards with a .50cal.
The AK47 does not make the manly list because its intermediate cartridge, high rate of fire, large magazine capacity, and easy maintenance do not require particular manly traits to operate. Additionally, It has no legacy of manliness. our manly heroes used muzzle loaders to fight our revolution. the AK47 has a legacy as the weapon of commie scum and their allies
The mauser is on there because manly bolt action rifles everywhere are based on it.
Mac-10: Its uncomfortable grip, nearly uncontrollable fire rate, and brick-like weight require a big man accustomed to hard work to use it.

Macgeoghagen, I would like to make the case for replacing the Mauser with the M1903-A3. One it is American made, granted some of the features are based on the Mauser. Two, it is chambered in the 30-06, a manly caliber. Three it was used from WW1 and up until the early days of Vietnam.
Lastly, I own one. ;D

I'm with you there Flat, that ole man can still hold his own today downrange a ways, and when it finally does get there, they don't get up. I would give anything to have that Quigly model, with the fine furniture, and all the finery. All those mentioned are great indeed, but the Sharps definitely earned it's rightful place among the greatest.
Site has some good music too.

Man that is a beautiful rifle! Gonna have to get me one in 45-110!!
Off the top of my head, here is my list:
10. British Enfield #1Mk3
9. Russian Mosin-Nagant M44
8. Model 1898 Mauser – the gun upon which most of the rest of the bolt guns are based
7. Thompson submachine gun – the gun that made the 20’s roar (and played a big part in winning WWII)
6. AK-47
5. Smith and Wesson Model 29 .44 Magnum
4. AR-15
3. Remington 870 shotgun
2. M1911 .45 auto pistol
1. M-1 Garand, the rifle that won WWII
Glock pistols – Plastic fantastic. What has it done yet?
Swiss K-31 carbine - When was the last time they participated in a war
Barrett M82 .50 rifle – Great sniper rifle in Afghanistan, but what else does it do?

There were many bolt rifles considered, including m1903, remington 700, savage 110, etc, but eventually the mauser was chosen because its the daddy of the other ones.

I agree with your post man...especially 45Colts, 1911s, M1s, ARs, and the good old 12 gauge. More has been done by real American men with those firearms than any other.

Considering we had to pay Germany royalties for infringing on their 98 design..... I'm willing to say NO to the Springfield, especially since the first 300,000 are not even safe to fire.
98 stays! 8mm is plenty rugged for man handling!

How about the 10 least manly guns? These are non-threatening, politically correct, estrogen forged, use tampons as ammo, have plenty of safety features, and don't kick hard. all are numbered 0.
0. anything that requires a key to unlock to get it to function"just in case a child gets hold of it". BULLSHIT! manly men don't leave their firearms laying around for children to get hold of it. even if a kid did get it, manly men train their children in proper firearms handling and only let them have friends over who do the same.
0. whatever nancy pelosi or hillary clinton carry. nuff said.
0. AR15. plastic, aluminum, low recoil, high fire rate, high capacity, and the fact that it poops on itself put this at the bottom of the manly list. additionally, the ability to cover this firearm in gadgets make it less a firearm and more a dress up doll.
0. elmer fudd's firearm. is it a shotgun or a rifle? whatever it is, it can't shoot through a carrot, so its on here.
0. Gold plated desert eagle, .50AE, never fired. the owner is obviously compensating for a lack of certain parts.
0. skorpion machine pistol. for close quarters use by somebody who cant aim well enough to kill in 1 shot from 5 feet away. cheap shot.
0. M61 vulcan. 6 rotating barrels and an insane rate of fire make this vehicle or aircraft mounted weapon unsuitable for showing your manliness in combat.
0. flame thrower. setting people on fire is not manly at all.
0. tazer. originally intended to avoid killing suspects, present policy is to use it as a prod and compliance weapon to make people do as they are told.
0. FAMAS. goofy looking french assault rifle.
