Ok my Birthday is a week out. Woohoo, right? except that means i am getting older and the military doctors now do more - um - humiliting, *procedures during check ups. :-[ I guess the up side is they expect less for the Physical fitness tests. *:P

Well, to get back to the intention of the post, I really want a good range finder. A few months ago i had spent countless hours researching the subject and i am quite sure i even bookmarked my ultimate selection but now cannot find it, and for the life of me, with as many different vendors and models i looked at and my 'aged' memory i cannot remember what i picked. OY!

So, to throw one out there. What would you guys/gals pick? (Given a very loving, gun nut, wife who frequently goes overboard on such things and could make the range finder dreams come true. :) )

I hear good things about the Bushnell's.
Good selection/prices/service at Natchez Shooters Supply.

How far and what calibre are you wanting to shoot?

Well i shoot a lot. Currently, the favorite is 223. there are 7mm rem mag, and down to 22LR. However, there is a 308 and a single shot 50bmg on their way to my safe.

The range the wife and i own is only 75 yards normally and on special occasions bumped to 100yards. Out and about were I elk hunting a 600 yard shoot is not out of line for a 7mm Rem mag. Once the 50 is here i would really like to find some longer ranges and distance then becomes very hard to guest-i-mate.

This is going to have to be an all around rangefinder because i can see zero justification for having more than one in todays day and age when they commonly run from 1 to 1200 yards with a +/- of 1 yard.

I've been looking a little bit when i have been able around my schedule for the last few days.

I would really prefer a water proof one- however that limits my choices to exactly one out there.

Also, i would really like to not have to obtain "special" batteries- but that is incompatable with the water proof requirement.

oy! decisions, decisions!
