Have any of you ever bought a gun through the Civilan Markman Program?

I did a few years ago. It went pretty smooth.

Membership in this organization: http://www.thegca.org/
satisfies requirement #2: "Memebrship in an OCMP affiliated organization" The cost is $25 per year.

I was in the military, so that took care of requirement #3. (you need a copy of your DD-214 if you're a vet)

Hey Rassd! Haven't seen you in a while. Here's the link

http://www.odcmp.com

Basically it is a program that sells certain military surplus rifles to qualified citizens in order to have a citizenship well versed in marksmanship with military weapons. Real cool idea.

Too bad they only sell old antiquated Garands, and not real cool modern ARs! I'm kidding guys! ;D

I have one of the Garands on my Christmas list...

HUH !! Wha........?

Oh, you wuz just kiddin'........

Don't be twinkling around here, spreading fairy dust, like you were Tinkerbelle.

Get you a gun that has some meat on it, like a Garand.

OK, I'm going back to sleep now.

;D ;D ;D ;D

For one thing it is the CIVILIAN MARKSMANSHIP program., not the civilian markman program. Learn to spell for petes sake.

Now, now....Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

"for petes sake" should have more properly been spelled "for Pete's sake"

I mean, you know, since we're interested in correct spelleng.

+1 on what Rick said.

I'd also like to point out that "singleshot" is not a word, according the the Oxford English Dictionary. ::)

Welcome to the forum anyway.

No, I joined a gun club, went to Camp Perry, did a lot of FUN target practice, but did not buy a gun.

Anyone have an old 03 or 03A3 Springfield action laying around? It doesn't need to be pretty.

I sent in my order for a USGI Field Grade Garand a few days ago. I'll keep everyone posted on the experience. Although I can't open the rifle until Christmas, since it is my present!

I have bought a total of 7 rifles through them:

3 1903a3 bolt action rifles (Remingtons)
2 M1 Carbines (both Winchesters)
2 M1 Garands (both Springfield Armory)

I have also bought about 3000 rounds of M1 30-06 ball ammo from them.

Excellent organization to deal with and their customer service is top notch.

Every man should own an M1 Garand.

Just received notice of shipment for my service grade garand. Since it is technically a Christmas present, I won't be able to check it out before then. ::)

Turn around was right at a month, even with a supposed 90-120 day wait. I'll post on the quality after Christmas.

Well the day arrived. The M1 is very nice. The stock has a few scrapes. It also has one ding about the width of a roofing nail head. Other than that the stock is in good shape. No cracks and a tight fit. The stock just needs a good cleaning. The barrel is nice and shiny with sharp rifling. Also in need of a good cleaning.

The metal has nice even park. Overall this is a great rifle. I can't wait to see how it shoots. I really recommend participating in the CMP. You are buying a genuine piece of history.

Merry Christmas!

You can get NRA National Match Grade AR15's through a special purchase plan through the DCM and participating local gun clubs. My club sold all their club-owned M1G's and purchased Bushmaster Nat. Match AR-15's. At the same time several memebers went together with the club and possibly other clubs and made a volume deal with Bushmaster. I think the final price was ~$900 for a tricked out NM competition gun.
