has anyone tried vaccupacking a firearm designed for long term storage? It would not be the only level of protection, would actually be done over cosmoline i'm thinking, and under some other things. Just curious if anyone has any experience before I gain my own.

I don't keep guns in this fashion but I do store
some of my knife collection in Foodsaver bags.
I wipe them in light oil then put them in bags.
Some of my more valuable knives have been
stored like this for over 10 yrs. now in the safe.
The still look pristine which is how I preserve the
value of them. I can show them off while not
getting fingerprint acids on them.
Don't see why it won't work for guns.

Thank you for the feedback. I have read of a few methods, and they all involve layers of protection. I figured this might be an easy way to get an extra layer on there. Think I will do a test run for a year, and I ll post how it goes. Again, thanks for the feedback.

I would but some oxygen abosrbent packs as well as moisture absorbers in there as well..once again.. layers of protection.
