Does anyone have any info as to what it is?

They use a shotshell /device to tap some pots of molten metal in foundrys, I dont know if they still do it this way or not.I also heard that they use a "shotshell" in seismic equipment that they use to get a picture of the underground strata for like the mining and oil industry. Try google you can probably find more about it than I have heard of.
