I picked up some ram shot tac powder the other day. I got a good deal, so took my chances and bought three pounds. I can't seem to find any good online data for my situation. I have an AR with a 16" barrel 1-8" twist. Have a bunch of 55 gr. winchester fmjbt bullets I need to use. I'm thinking about starting at 23 grains per load. Has anyone loaded up any rounds with tac or know a good data source ?

Here is a good Powder Burn Chart. http://www.reloadbench.com/burn.html

108. H335 (Hodgdon)
109. TAC (Ramshot)
110. H4895 (Hodgdon)

If you go to the Ramshot Website, http://www.ramshot.com/powders/ You can download all of their loaddata. They have about 14 different loads for TAC in the .223

Let us knowe how you like it.

Howdy

I haven't tried it yet either, but I bought a pound of it some time back to try in .300 Savage. It's supposed to be the cat's meow with 125 grain bullets in that one. I seem to recall that TAC was designed specifically for 5.56 NATO, so you should get good results with it. It's also reported to be VERY clean burning. Much cleaner than H335 or W748 that it tends to replace in most applications from what I've read.OzarksJohn

P.S.
Just re-read an article on TAC. I guess it was designed as a 7.62 NATO powder, and not as a 5.56 NATO powder as I said above. Either way it works so well in .223 that there is a picture of an AR 15 on the label. I guess that kind of indicates that Ramshot figured that's where it would get the most use.OJ
