My brother is in the process of buying a Marlin 1894 in .44 Mag. I am going to reload for him and would appreciate any recommendations for a mould. I have used the Lee and RCBS moulds, and am very happy with them. I have the RCBS .45 Cal 270SAA mould for my Marlin .45 Cowboy. Would prefer a Keith design.

Thanks!

I load .44 mag with Lyman's 429421 SWC. Cast in #2 alloy it comes out of the mold at about 245 grains. I usually load this with 16 grains of Blue Dot.

That's it! I hear one can get good results using wheel weights with that mold.

I have many of the 44 moulds, but my fav is the RCBS 44-250KT. I also have a couple 429421 moulds, but the KT mould seems easier to get better bullets out of, and the KT bullets are VERY accurate in every 44 i have shot them in.. I use ALOX for lube.

sawyerob,

Thanks to you and all for the replies. Quick question....how do you apply the Alox lube? I use the Lee sizing dies and standered beeswax lube, pan lubed, but the Alox sounds faster at least for my .38 target rounds.

Thanks

With a "luber/sizer", i have both Lyman and RCBS models. Thanks for the welcome.
