Some times when I resize for my big game shells on the slope of the neck I get dimples. Some are real big. They don't hurt the performance of the bullets and usually blow out when I fire the gun. But they look bad. I called RCBS some years back and they said it was because of the resizing lube. I have since went to hornady aresol lube spray. This problem comes and goes but I came across it again. I immedeately look at the dies and they are always clean. The cases are always clean no buildup before or after resizing. Just thought the minds here might have come across it before and defeated it.

Try lubing every other shell, that worked for me.

It's your case lube.

The only lube i use is Imperial Sizeing Die Wax, get some and you will see why it's so much better than anything else out there...

When i was doing a lot of case forming for ammo and brass that i retailed, it's the one lube that that did it all, and a tin of it goes a LONG ways too...

What I've done in the past is take a Q-tip and wipe off the shoulder area. You can use the accumulated oil to lubricate the inside of the neck.

Thanks for the info. The hornady spray is the wax kind.

Hydraulic dent from the lube. I use a lube pad, but I do the body, not pressing hard, and roll the necks separately. Nada on the shoulders.

Probably the lube, but on occasion, the die may be setting the shoulder back a bit too far. If the lube change doesn't work, back off the FL sizing die 1/8 to 1/4 turn and see if that helps.

Let us know.

ShadowWalker,
If'n ya always shoot these cartridges in the same gun, try chambering an empty case after firing... If no problem- and there probably won't be - just necksize in the future.

You will get lots more life (reloads) for each case that way.

Either you're not using a lube pad, or else you're simply using way too much lube!

Hint: If you can easily see the lube on the cartridge case, then, you're probably using too much. The case should be just lightly smeared.

By the way, when was the last time you took apart your sizing die and cleaned it inside and out with either solvent or kerosene?
