I had Buff Orpingtons the first time and I love them. They lay really big brown eggs. Many of the double yokers and I had a lady that would pay me $5 a dozen for a the D.Y. er's?? It was her idea. What can I say. Any of them that looked super big to me went in front of the light.
But I have some people that want white eggs so I am going to buy BO's and something that lays large white eggs. But I javen't a clue as to what breed for the white eggs. Only from reading the ads anyway. I was wondering if I could get some firsthand info from here?
I want to make the order tomorrow if I can figure out which ones.
I ordered from Cackle the last two time. Actually the only two times, but they were pretty good. Out of 75 chicks I ordered I had one dead and one that died and about 78 that lived and did well untill the roosters called the foxes UP ::) .
So what's the best large wite egg layer out there.??
Thanks for the help.

If its a for money thing then you will not best the white Leghorn, especially the strains offered by the hatcheries. The hamburgs were at one time known as the Dutch Every Day Layers but today they may be a more seasonal layer tho they will still pump out a good supply, all varieties make a smaller egg. The colored Leghorns offered by hatcheries can be good egg makers, it depends on where they obtained the eggs they hatch. My black Hamburgs, bantam and large fowl are very good egg makers but they arent available from many commercial sources. You really cannot out do the white Leghorns.

Thank both of ya'll for the sites. They both helped some. Fanceyfowl, this is to make money. I am disabled and chickens is something I can deal with to EARN some extra money.
I had all but made up my mind it would be White Leghorns, but I wanted some more thoughts about it. Thanks for your help too.
Problem is from what I have read and been told they are flighty birds, don't care for confinement, and loud. None of which I prefer.
I am in the city limits but the animal control said they don't care if I have them as long as there aren't any calls about them. This time, I AM GOING TO MAKE THE PEN ESCAPE PROOF, and FOX PROOF, one way or another but I don't want a bunch of chickens running around with home made muzzles on them either, LOL. The last time I ordered day old chicks I did it for meat. 50 roosters. :o .... Couldn't keep them in a 40 x 40 x 6' high pen. Drove me nuts at 2-3-4 am until we ate them all. :)
I am going to hatch eggs every month and sell the roosters as I can and we will eat the what I can't sell ourself. ;D
I will only let the roosters get large enough for one person meal so maybe they won't be that big a problem crowing. ::)
Thanks again for all your help.
