As the weather starts to cool, I look forward to different types of crafts than those I pursue in warmer months. I want to get the crocheting, knitting and quilting out, and begin my winter "hybernation". Can't wait to begin!
How about everyone else?

I make my own spinners dress the tails and such . Currently I'm squirrell hunting and then I use the tails for the hooks I tie. Same with deer tails and such. I go on a trip fishing every year and everyone of my 3 buddies that go as well want some of the lures I make and that's what we usually catch the most fish with!

Cooking and cross-stitching. Love them both!

I love sewing and crocheting. I plan to learn counted-cross stitch this winter and I hope I get in the mood for quilting because one of my 12 year old granddaughters told me today she wants a quilt for Christmas. I am not very proficient in quilting but I hope to get that way,

I love crocheting a large afghan in cold weather. I can sit propped up on the bed and use the part I've already croched to keep me warm. LOL I also enjoy doing a little more baking as the heat from the oven helps keep the trailer warm. I usually don't turn it on for heat unless it's going to be 35o or less at night then I heat the trailer with the oven, turn it off and leave one burner on low and it works fine.

Winter is the time for me to do more fiber crafts - spinning, weaving, crochet. This year, I'm picking up knitting too.
Also in the winter is when I make my hard cheeses - our cellar is the perfect temp in the winter for curing them - it's just mozzerella during the warm months
:) Mine is quilting. *I have made a few quilts but I am also still learning too.

I love quilting, there's nothing more comforting than snuggling under a quilt. I do knitting and I have an embroidery machine that I use for making most of the gifts that I give for Christmas and Birthdays.

Juju I just checked out your quilt, it's fantastic! I would love to make one but with all my cats I don't really have the room I would need as they would decide that my latest quilt was their personal bed/play area. LOL
I just ordered 3 books from House of White Birches with quilting patterns, some iron-on, that I want to try my hand at. One of them is monthly pot holders that I hope will be a project that I can carry around to work on when I'm on the bus or waiting for the computer here at the library.
Well, Be sure to join my group and maybe some one will buy those pot holders. *And my dog takes over every quilt I am working on I just put it in a dryer to get the hair off and give it to the person I am making it for.

Take care and god's speed,

winter is when we do most of the interior renovations on our house. the lady who lived here before us unfortunately too this beautiful 100 year old farmhouse and crapped it up with chintzy construction, so i'm redoing and undoing a lot of the foul-ups she had done. fortunately for us, the overall picture is pretty good with good utilities and structure. mostly poorly done drywall and cheap materials like hardboard paneling, foam trim, etc.
last winter we completely redid the bathroom. complete gut-out and remodel. new plumbing fixtures, new MR gypboard on walls and ceiling, new light fixtures, new doors, new tile floor and shower alcove, new cabinetry, etc, etc
this winter we're redoing the bedroom. new hardwood floor (4-1/4" plank Elm T&G), complete patching and much re-taping of the gypboard, new wood wainscot, new 4-1/4" T&G pine on the cathedral ceiling.
next winter is the basement with a concrete slab on the dirt floor, new awning windows, a new wood burner, new shelving, etc.
the interior projects start after the new year since we spend about a month before xmas making xmas presents. so that pretty much wraps up the winter. we try to finish by late march when we can start moving outside with tilling and pruning.

just sewed up the loose threads of my twelfth pair of socks. I think I will start another pair for myself since 13 is my lucky number ;). But after I get the floor painted in my studio and a wheel I am going to be up to my elbows in clay :) :) :) :) I did some folk art painting on some cabinets, but when you do not have much room and have to move your projects off the kitchen table, knitting is the best for me, just set the basket aside.

And I clear brush, with the copperheads around here winter is the only time to clear brush.

I am a budding Artist. I tend to do a lot more painting in the Winter. Wildlife, Horses, lovely scenery. Snow inspires me to do lots of winter scenes. This winter I want to gather all my old black and white photos of familyand friends and put them into Albums and Frames. Make groupings for grand-kids to look at. Also hibernate and sleep in when I can get away with it.
