hawk just killed a wild chicken...

... my my front yard! right now the whole family is at the window with binocs watching this event.
pretty exciting for a sunday afternoon.
the chicken sure seems to be taking a long time to die. poor thing.
right now he is pulling out the feathers and starting to get into the meat.
a few cars have gone by but that doesent seem to bother him at all!
the hawk is kinda grey but has a white chest with dark speckles.
well anyway just wanted to share this nature event with y'all.

Sounds like probably a Goshawk. If the chicken is still alive then the hawk is probably immature and still learning how to hunt. Soon he/she will learn that a fast death means a lot less risk to his/her own health.
