We are having a simple wedding :-* at our country home in September.
If anyone has any ideas for fun, inexpensive and easy favors, decor, etc. I would greatly appreciate it! :)

was at a wedding were rather than bells or clinking glasses...to get the B&G to kiss, the guests sing a song with the word "LOVE" in it.

My best friend did a country wedding and it was beautiful. It was his wifes second marriage so it was small and simple. They used a lot of hay bales and with him kissing the bride on a hay bale was sweet. It was also an outside wedding.

Wedding favors - small jars of jam or honey wrapped in a little raffia, or tin cups filled with a homemade spice mix - like for chili and attach your fave recipe
Decor - mason jars filled with local flowers or wheat, little 4 oz masons with candles - you could fill these with dried beans to hold the candles in. Or bandanas for decor if you're more inclined to a "western' country theme.

Thank you for the great herbal wedding ideas! It has turned into more of an country harvest wedding, but what a nice time it will be! We are scattering hay bales around the yard. Party favors made from potpourri made from flowers and herbs in the garden. Each guest gets a little package of lavender buds for tossing. The wedding will take place under the arbor, decorated with sunflowers, corn stalks and ribbon. We made centerpieces for under $2 each using votive candles in mason jars, mixed beans, ribbon and herbs. So cute! Drinks will include iced tea and lemonade. Dinner will be fried chicken, potato salad, corn, etc. Snacks will be pretzels, chips and popcorn. There will be a small cake and lots of apple pie!
For fun, there will be an ongoing card game in the barn, music, horsehoes, checkers, hay rides and lawn games. The guests seem to appreciate the fact that they do not have to dress up and that the kids are also welcome to attend. We wanted to make this easy on the budget for everyone.

Saorise -
This sounds like it will be a lovely wedding! I used to do a lot with dried herbs and if you hang them in a warm room, they'll be dry in two or three days. I used to take a string and hang it from a nail high up - and make half-hitch loops every few inches and put another little bundle of stems - then you have a long rope of drying herbs rather than just a bundle!
If you have enough to do this with - and dried flowers are also good - you might make a garland by wiring the herbs to a sisal cord. With dry flowers intertwined, it looks so pretty & you can drape it by pinning it to the front of a table cloth and make 3 or 4 foot lengths pinned to drape nicely all along the front. I use thin wire or even just string to do the most of the ties, but sisal ties (or twisted paper ties) in bows look very nice too. I made these for over-the-door garlands, but they'd look nice around your main table!
My sisters and I dry all kinds of flowers to use in these- even wild flowers do well, such as goldenrod.
Oops! I just noticed you planned a September wedding and the month is almost over! Can you show us pictures? ;D
